Benefits of Scouting

BSA Mission & Vision: The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. After FYRE conducted its Ends, Ways, and Means analysis and developed its own FYRE Values and FYRE Guiding Principles, FYRE determined that Scouting was the best youth program available to augment FYRE’s adult-oriented community programs.

Baylor University Research Finds Eagle Scouts Have Positive, Lasting Influence on American Society. The nationwide academic study shows those who attain Scouting’s highest rank enhance youth’s values, ethics, decision making, relationships and personal development. Community Service

Not only does FYRE use BSA to imbue a sense of duty and service in youth, but it also enables youth to serve the community and earn credible service hours that can be applied to college grants and scholarships. Many scholarships, including the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, requires 100 hours of community service to be eligible. College admission applications look for total service hours as a positive discriminator. FYRE helps youth set themselves apart.
